How do writers get there? We'll explore all the paths that led me (at least) there.

Let's touch on neurospiciness and how it can affect the creative process.

Almost teenagers, Alexx and Nic are excited to attend a local festival, headlined by exciting musical guests.

"We're gonna find her again, Nicky. Swear it." — Alexx Algantt
In the present day, the vigil continues. Dorriann has finished his story — and now it's Alexx's turn.Thirteen years ago, in the town of Narriss on the Atremm Province trade circuit, two almost-teenagers had exactly one priority: getting to the front of the crowd at the best festival of the year. Alexx had been ready for an hour. Nic had spent that hour making him wait. What happened next — a voice under a curtain, a flag where a curtain should have been, three words that hit harder than a rig under a truck — is a story Alexx has never quite figured out how to tell. He's going to try anyway.

A flashback to the beginning. Two twelve-year-olds, one basket metaphor, and something overheard that they absolutely were not supposed to hear.

They were twelve years old, exhausted, bleeding, and absolutely not taking any of this seriously. Until they heard something that made them very serious.

She was twelve years old the first time she understood what she was capable of. She was fifteen the first time she used it.
Episode 6 of Legion 16: First Watch takes us back — to the training years, to the moment everything changed, and to the question nobody wanted to answer.
“Did she enjoy it?”

For all the groups out there who are awesome - we love you. For all the groups out there who suck - we love you, too, but for entirely different reasons.

We'll delve into the most frequent denizens of writers group (my experience, anyway) and see which category you fall into.

In the present day, Myrrinn stops breathing. It's not the first time. It won't be the last. Nic, Dorriann, and Alexx handle it the way they handle everything — with competence, with terror underneath, and with dark humor on top.
Then Nic asks about fifteen.
Ten years ago, in Lis'cann, two fifteen-year-old siblings were supposed to be enjoying a day without their trainers. What they got instead was the first real field test of what Myrrinn could do — and a lesson in what it costs everyone in the room when she does it.
Dorriann narrates. He remembers everything. He has not found a way to forget.

Five years ago, a twenty-three-year-old with short hair and no red dye, standing in a line of Legion recruits, tried very hard to be no one.
He's not quite pulling it off.
A pair of almost sixteen-year-olds with short patience and no time for their trainer, tried very hard to outrun responsibility.
They didn't quite pull it off, either.

Training comes in all forms; sometimes it's quiet, sometimes it's loud, but it always kicks your ass.

Five years ago, four strangers walked into a crumbling library in New Kevakk and sat down for tea with people they didn't trust yet.
Dorriann hated one of them instantly. Marcayl and Semmina stayed diplomatic. Myrrinn played her cat-and-mouse game in the field for the first time.
The mission took a new turn.

S1E8 - Destination: New Kevakk
Five years ago, two teenagers arrived in a crumbling library in a city they'd never been to, pretending to be people they weren't, surrounded by psionically-gifted strangers who may or may not have been fooled.
This is how Myrrinn and Dorriann found New Kevakk — and how New Kevakk found them.
